Suzy Hutcherson, MA, PhD, LPA

Suzy Hutcherson, LPA , is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Hutcherson completed her residency Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.
Suzy’s clinical experience has given her the opportunity to work with diverse groups of individuals in outpatient and residential long term treatment, acute inpatient treatment, and private practice settings. She strives to build a trusting relationship with clients to foster growth, change, and instill hope. Dr. Hutcherson aims to empower clients to reach their full potential by teaching them skills that will assist them in overcoming challenges in their everyday lives.
Dr. Hutcherson has an extensive background across settings. She is specialized in the identification and treatment of disorders and issues for people of all ages. Suzy recognizes each client has unique experiences in their history and in the role those experiences play in their life.
Psychological problems treated by Dr. Hutcherson include Anxiety, Chronic Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression and/or Loneliness, Suicidal Ideation, Loss & Grieving, Trauma, PTSD, Adjustment/Life Transitions, Survivors of Difficult Childhood and/or Child Abuse, Relationship Problems, Bi-Polar Disorder and a broad scope of behavioral and emotional disorders in children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Hutcherson has publications and papers in peer reviewed journals and at APA conventions examining the risk and protective factors associated with the interrelation of anxiety, depression, and loneliness in preadolescents, adolescents, and young adults. At the University of Texas Department of Psychiatry, she conducted extensive clinical assessments of individuals in the Chromosome 18 Clinical Research Center, a program conducting lifetime longitudinal study of individuals with chromosome 18 abnormality, with the goal of improving their health and life. Suzy also participated in research examining the effectiveness of Cognitive Remediation Therapy in patients with bipolar disorder.
Dr. Hutcherson is a Licensed Psychological Associate with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. She is a recognized member of the American Psychological Association and of the Texas Psychological Association.
